Luigi in Super Mario 64
This is one of the most classic rumors. When this one-of-the-1st-3D game came out, it became popular. Because of its popularity, rumors about Luigi came about. People made a whole bunch of fake Luigi pics by using photoshop, paintshop, or whatever they desired to make these fake Luigi pics. Another way they did it was strectching out Luigi and color code, changing the M to an L. They could've also used Starxxon's mod to make Luigi. These were made an emulator. Nintendo has denied this many times, so they said that on page 128 of an old Nintendo Power magazine (Hinting Super Mario 64 2), There is a section on Luigi, even though the magazine had only 106 Pages. Here is an example of a Luigi rumor I took out of a website:
"Go in the Lava Land and go in the volcano. Now there are 2 ways to
get him. Dive into the Lava Fall at just the right angle, and you will
fall into a secret room with a painting of Luigi. Or go on one of
the poles and keep bouncing up the Lava Fall, you will see a ledge,
if you go on it and look around, Luigi will be there!"

From which angle? And, there isn't a ledge. using moonjump, and level select, look at this.
Nope! No ledge. I even made a NEW video with even more ways to unlock him, but all not working...
Even further proof:
Miyamoto: With Mario 64, we had an experiment that took advantage of the idea of the screen growing larger and smaller depending on how far apart the characters were. So we had Mario and Luigi running around in that 3-D world, but we ended up not using it.
Wired.com: Why did you decide not to use that Nintendo 64 game with Mario and Luigi?
Miyamoto: Ultimately, it’s the idea of processing speed and working within the constraints of the hardware. The DS Mario 64 had a mode with something similar to that, where you were playing with four characters.
Waluigi in Super Mario 64 DS
Another fake rumor! Due to Wario being in Super Mario 64 DS, people considered Waluigi to be in Super Mario 64 DS. People have made many theories as well. It was even more convincing when there is a black 2D box on the title screen. This was originally supposed to be a secret level in the beta game, but forgotten to take it out. Another convincing rumor is the purple in the game, such as the purple settings button and the purple on the title. The purple settings is uknown, but here is a pic of the original game:

You can see purple in the blue of the title if you look very close. Waluigi wasn't even made when this was made.
Another thing is you can see Waluigi's mustache in the picture of peach in the changing room. Waluigi's mustache is just a line, so there is no proof. There is a purple rabbit in the V1 manual, but it is from the beta, not the final. There is an upsidedown L in the hedges, but it could be an L. One more thing, there is a strange message from Toad saying "Come on, Everybody!" Peach says "listen everyone" at the end of the game, so it's not her. My guess this was a message in the beta game, but it is still in there, and it can be easily accessed using a hack. Wh
Search "Purple Prizes Waluigi" in Google image search or Ask.com image search. Please notice Waluigi has a purple upsidedown L, not a yellow one. Here is a rumor: "To unlock Waluigi, you first have to get all 150 stars and every mini game. Then, you have to do the next step: You know how in the N64 version of Super Mario 64 DS there is a plaque in Boo Courtyard that says "L is Real 2401?" Well, consider the L upside down because the next step is to make add up the coin records for each level. If the total is less than 2401, you'll have to increase the total until it reaches 2401. If it goes over 2401, you'll have to start the whole game over if you want Waluigi. If it's exactly 2401, you'll be able to get Waluigi by following the next few steps. The next step is to go lose your caps. Mario has to lose his cap by being mugged by Klepto in Shifting Sand Land. Luigi has to lose his cap by being mugged by Ukiki on Tall Tall Mountain. Wario has to lose his cap by being blown by ths snowman in Snowman's Land. Once everyone is capless, go to Boo Courtyard as yoshi. You'll then see that the star on the fountain is gone and that it was replaced with a ? block. Hit it to get a Waluigi cap. Then, put it on and go to the mirror room where you unlocked Wario. You'll see that the power flowers are still there. Take one and you'll gain the ability to see secrets in the castle. Now, go to the door to the lobby. Instead of going through it, triple jump over it and you'll end up ripping a curtain that hides a hole. Go through the hall that the curtain hid and then you'll end up outside in front of the cannon. Launch yourself from the cannon and aim at the giant picture of peach. When you hit it, you'll be on a ledge. Then, a message will appear saying that you need 151 stars to go through the secret door. Get another Power Flower and head to Boo Courtyard You'll see that the star on the shrine is a real star. Get it, take another power flower, and go back to the cannon. Launch yourself at the "picture" of Peach and it will open. At the end of the hallway, there is a picture of Waluigi. Go through it to enter the Pirhana Pit. You'll need to take damage when you first enter because you need every character to complete this level. If you make it to the end, you'll fight a really REALY big Pirhana Plant. Beat it to get a key with an upside down L. Then you need toSave, end the game and when you come back on go into the room with the luigi Mario and wario doors on it and the white room door will be waluigi's( if you have not got the white room star then get it befor you unlock him)"
Wow, how large! Please notice how there are many spelling errors. These are just proof that these are fake. I made a rick-roll video on how to unlock Waluigi.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crzy7yD8FrM
Even though I proved these are false, Here is a real way on getting the purple doppleganger:
1. Start Super Mario 64 DS with Super Mario Advance in the gameboy slot.
2. Beat the game (Get all stars).
3. Beat Bowser 1 with all characters.
4. With Luigi, get an invisibility cap and shoot at the large Peach Painting.
5. Take out another DS with Mario Kart DS on it.
6. Beat 100cc
7. Now you've unlocked Waluigi and all of his karts!!!!!!!
Sonic and Toad in Super Smash Bros MELEE
Because there are so many rumors out there of unlockable characters, A magazine made a rumor that if you beat 20 people in Cruel Melee, You'll fight Sonic or Sonic and Tails and unlock him or them. For Toad, seeing Toad in SSBM so much times (Peach, Adventure Mode, etc.) that people made a rumor to unlock him. Rumor is that if you shoot all of the credits, you'll face Toad. This is impossible, because near the end there are unhittable credits. These are easily faked using Photoshop, GIMP, or Paint.net, MS Paint, etc. You can watch a tutorial here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhIRqWl1mlY
Shadow in SSBB
Sonic's famous rival in SSBB. People got Sonic in SSBB, but they didn't find that enough, so they made a new rumor of Shadow being in the beta game, and people made rumors of Shadow being in the final game. For fun, I made a FAKE video on how to unlock Shadow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TE5gGV73m8
I took the pictures of Shadow as an assist trophy to make him look real. The last one's a GIF image, so it is very laggy.
A lot of people who make these fakes are either Rick Rolls, screamers, Jokes (How to unlock Shadow on [top of] SSBB), etc.
Unlock Bosses in SSBB
Everyone has a favorite boss in this game, right? Well, you can unlock them. How? Just play 1000000000000000000000 brawls, beat Subspace 100 times with each character (Beat it 100 times with Samus, beat it 100 times with Sonic, so on so it's every character), Play every song 3 times, face each boss 200 times each, play Rick Rolled music and realize you just wasted your whole life. You can't unlock them, they are bosses. People have made (FAKE) videos on unlocking these, Tabuu being the most popular. These vids are either Rick Roll or whatever rolled, drunk animals, or just a pic with unfitting music.
Banjo Kazooie "Stop N' Swap"
In 1998, Banjo Kazooie came out, and what a game that was! But not long after people got the game, people saw, shark-food island, Gobi's door, and a ice key they couldn't get. Why? well, we all found out in the 100% cutsceen! Mumbo gave us pictures, and it shows banjo, seeing the ice key? Going in shark food island, and seeing the pink egg? Going into a door and, seeing a blue egg? What the heck is going on? Then he said ... "You will get these secrets in banjo tooie." So, in 2 years, banjo tooie came out. It had the secrets, but with a yellow one too. inside the eggs where moves or little cheats. The ice key unlocked a Mega glowbo, that turned kazooie into a dragon. Even though we liked the dragon, the whole thing was very over rated.
Then it happened! in 2003, the rare witch project found 7 cheats to unlock the ice key, the blue and pink egg! but, there was more... 4 other cheats where found, and it was for a red/cyan/green/ and yellow eggs? weird! This was one of the biggest secrets ever found in banjo kazooie!
